An Eye for an Eye

not for publication

I have already said too much about the war of genocide against the Palestinians to publish anything more about it, but the fundamental problem is that whenever you have an “eye for an eye” feud, there is never any end to it.  I have probably already quoted the famous line, “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,” attributed to Gandhi, but first used by George Perry Graham (1914), and again by Henry Powell Spring (1944 ~ “If we practice an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, soon the whole world will be blind and toothless.”).

Back in October, after Hamas made their raid into Israel, the Israelis thought they were justified in launching their war of genocide, “the Final Solution” to the “Palestinian Problem.”  But I have already quoted Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who said, “that didn’t happen in a vacuum,” which is the crux of the issue here.  Now, recent news is all about the attack of Hezbollah against the Israeli-occupied territory in the Golan Heights.  Of course, this is a horrific attack, as was the attack of Hamas against Israel last October, but this attack, too, didn’t happen in a vacuum !  It is logically indefensible to take any random spot on a sequence of events and pretend that it is some sort of starting point.  This kind of action/reaction is exactly what we call “kindergarten behavior.”  A fight in the kindergarten will never stop until the Teacher comes in and breaks it up.  Of course both sides are angry !  It takes an immense amount of maturity and wisdom to transcend this cycle of violence and just stop fighting.

In Palestine today there is no “Teacher” who can come onto the playground to pull apart the warring schoolboys.  Of course, this is the fundamental problem of the world ~ the lack of any higher authority which can regulate affairs and administer justice.  Along with the rest of the world, I shudder to think of the Pax Americana option !  Oh, no, that will not do at all !

How can I publish this?  Is there anything here that I haven’t said so many times before ?  Of course I have been advocating the establishment of just such an international supervisory body for many years, ever since the New Solutions of 1992.  (Refer to One Planet Makeover for the whole story.)  But I really do not see any other way out of this and every other conflict between sovereign states on this earth.  If there is any hope for the survival of life on earth, we have to get this program going on, yesterday.  How about a computer simulation, or a war-game scenario, or even a simple AI interrogation ?  Here you go ~ after 75 years of the Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people, driving them off of their land, and stifling them at every side, finally the Palestinians strike back, like the suicide bomber who knows it is futile but sees no way to go on living any other way, so he is ready to die in his protest.  So then the Israelis strike back, waging a relentless campaign of genocidal extermination against the surviving Palestinians.  Next, Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon strike back against Israel, in solidarity with the Palestinians.  Of course, the State of Israel sends missiles into Lebanon, followed by the current strike in the Golan Heights, which has never been part of Israel, simply seized and occupied.

Now what’s going to happen?  The Israelis will surely decide that enough is enough; they are tired of war, so they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks, and send flowers to all of their enemies.  That will surely be the inevitable consequence.  Otherwise, we might see Israel making a massive strike against Hezbollah, followed by an even more massive response by Hezbollah against Israel, followed by another strike from Israel against Hezbollah, followed by missiles from Iran, and then the eager intervention of American soldiers and Arms dealers, offering a free box of Havana cigars with every order of 100,000 bombs.  Finally we will see the Second Coming of Jesus and the Rapture, where the Sheep are separated from the Goats, and the Sheep live happily ever after, transcended to their Heavenly Home.

Wait and see.  Tune in next week for the next installment of this serial adventure.  Candy, popcorn, cigars, AK-47s, harps, and hymnbooks are all available at the concession stand.
